What can Zoom support help with?

Our Lactation Consultants and Breastfeeding Counsellors are highly experienced working with families on Zoom. Many families are surprised that we can even support painful latching and positioning on Zoom - there is no need to visit us face to face unless you want to (or you need a tongue tie assessment).

Zoom can be a great way to get support early before you are able to leave the house, if siblings are happier at home, or if you need complete privacy. You are welcome to start with Zoom and visit us face to face later if you need.

We can support if

  • Breastfeeding is painful or uncomfortable

  • Your baby is struggling to latch

  • You are worried about milk supply

  • Feeding feels overwhelming or stressful

  • Your baby is feeding very frequently

  • You are expressing or pumping

  • You are bottle feeding or combination feeding

  • You're struggling with broken sleep

  • You are returning to work

  • You have questions about tongue-tie or positioning

  • You simply want reassurance that feeding is going well

You do not need to be in crisis or have a tiny baby to book for support - we are here for your whole journey.

Each appointment costs us £50 to deliver and we also welcome donations.

Zoom Support Testimonials

"Just brilliant. We are first time parents so having a 1:1 call with someone who tailored the whole discussion to our needs was priceless. We loved her and came away feeling so empowered to make decisions going forward but also relax into knowing that if and when we hit a stumbling block, there is more support out there. It's been the MOST helpful support we've had during this pregnancy and there was a high bar! The service you offered really has had a huge impact on us."

FAQs

How long is an appointment?

Each zoom appointment is approximately 40 minutes long.
Who can book?

We encourage you to book yourself an appointment online, or your health professional can book one on your behalf.
Is it really free?

We fundraise relentlessly to ensure our appointments are available free for families in West Kent, so that everyone can offer support regardless of their ability to pay.
Do I need a referral from my GP or health visitor?

No you can book yourself in and you don't need to wait until you are 'bad enough' to receive support. We believe that every family would benefit from our support, so don't hesitate - book today.
Can my partner join the call?

Your partner is encouraged to join the call - partners often remember different things and are a key source of support for you in the long term.
What happens if my baby is asleep during the appointment?

There is plenty we can discuss while baby sleeps and then we can try to wake them to feed if you are happy to. It is helpful not to feed your baby right before the call if possible because it is often useful for us to see them feeding.
Do I need to breastfeed during the Zoom call?

There is no pressure to breastfeed if you don't feel comfortable doing so. We can simply discuss your questions. You can wait and see how you feel.
Can you help with pumping or combination feeding?

Yes, we can support with breastfeeding, expressing/ pumping and bottle feeding.
Can you diagnose tongue-tie online?

We cannot do a full tongue-tie assessment online - this involves an examination of your baby's tongue function with a gloved finger. However, zoom is a great way to get feeding support if you are waiting for a face to face appointment for a tongue tie assessment.
What if I need urgent medical help?

Please call your GP, Health Visitor, or present at your nearest A&E.
What happens after my appointment?

You are welcome to return for more support if you need it at any time and no matter what age your baby is.
Can I book another appointment if I need one?

Yes - we encourage families to return for support for however long they need.
